MEET JUDY

LEADERSHIP THAT DELIVERS RESULTS FOR OUR COMMUNITY

I was born and raised in Everett. My father was an active member of IBEW 191 for many years. My mother was a dynamic community leader for professional women's associations, civic boards, and commissions. I had a career in education and retail before taking the helm at the Arts Council of Snohomish County in 1995. I graduated from Everett High School and Central Washington University.

Over the 28 years, I have grown the organization, now the Schack Art Center, into a regional powerhouse, with 100,000 visitors annually. As Executive Director, I presided over two successful capital campaigns raising over $8 million to build and equip the center. Since the Covid Pandemic hit, I have worked to provide programming to help heal our community through the arts, focusing on justice-involved teens, youth, our youngest school children, and artists.

First elected to the Everett City Council in 2014, I have chaired the Public Safety and serve on the Housing & Homelessness Committee and the Budget Committee, and acted as liaison to the Historical Commission, Everett Public Library, Economic Development, and Council of Neighborhoods. Today I serve as a member of the emergency communications SNO911 Board of Directors and ArtsWA as a Commissioner. I am member of the 38th LD Democrats and Everett Elks #479.

I have two grown children and one daughter-in-law: Julia, a Visual User Experience Designer, and Eddie (Katie), an Army Captain Veteran and Technology Consultant. I live in District 2 with my partner George Danas.
